We hope you are all safe and well during these uncertain times. We want to let you know that we continue to operate during our regular business hours from Monday To Friday from 8am to 6pm.
COVID-19 Pandemic has changed our lives and here are some facts that may help you:
HOW TO KILL THE CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) can live on surfaces for up to nine days and is extremely contagious. Although proper hand-washing is one of the keys to spreading and becoming infected with the Coronavirus (COVID-19), it’s also important to disinfect frequently touched surfaces. The CDC recommends daily disinfection for frequently touched surfaces such as cell phones, remotes, doorknobs, tables, light switches, counter tops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilet seats, faucets, and sinks etc.
There is insufficient studies and evidence on disinfectants that kill COVID-19 because it is a new virus. However, studies have shown that disinfectant agents effectively reduce coronavirus infectivity within 1 minute such as 62%-71% ethanol, 0.5% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or 0.1% sodium hypochlorite. Bleach and alcohol in concentrations higher than 60% are effective at killing SARS and other Coronaviruses similar to Covid-19 according to the CDC. Coronaviruses including COVID-19 are enveloped viruses which are one of the easiest types of viruses to kill since they rely on a protective lipid coating that can easily be deactivated.
The CDC states that Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) is an effective disinfectant against a wide variety of bacteria and viruses.
Hydrogen peroxide is seen as an environmentally safe alternative to chlorine-based bleaches, as it degrades to form oxygen and water and it is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) as an antimicrobial agent by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The main active ingredient in our “Virus Killer” product is Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) which is eco friendly and safe for families. The concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) in our formula is 1% which is double the concentration required to kill a Coronavirus in one minute of contact time. Alex Berezow, PhD and vice president of scientific communications at the American Council on Science and Healthy states that hydrogen peroxide is a good option to use on inanimate surfaces like metal, glass, and plastic to reduce germs in your home. After spraying a disinfectant like hydrogen peroxide on a surface, the key is to leave it on long enough (at least 1 minute) for it to be effective.
CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) FACTS
The web is filled with misinformation and myths on the Cornavirus (COVID-19). Here are some facts backed up by governments, scientists, academics and health organisations.
- Masks Can Help Lower COVID-19 Cases But Are Not 100% Effective. There is evidence showing that surgical masks and more so N95 masks can help reduce the risk of catching and giving respiratory infections like COVID-19. However, they are in short supply and in high demand. As of this writing (April 2020), there is a shortage of N95 masks that are needed for our healthcare workers who need to provide care for sick patients. This is one of the main reasons why the US Surgeon General has asked the general public to stop buying masks. Many studies have shown that N95 respirators can reduce the spread of respiratory viruses. However, they must be used and fitted properly with a good face seal, changed regularly and do not offer 100% protection from the Coronavirus. They offer 95% protection from small 0.3 micron sized particles but the Coronavirus is smaller in size at approximately 0.12 Microns. Coronavirus particles as small as 0.06 microns have been identified by scientists using electron microscopes. Another study has shown that surgical masks are effective at capturing over 80% of small particles that measured only 0.007 microns. The CDC now recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public setting where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
- COVID-19 is less common in O blood types and more common in A blood types. This report was based on a study comparing the blood groups of 2173 Coronavirus patients in hospitals in China with blood groups of 27080 people from the general population in Shenzhen and Wuhan China. The South China Morning Post originally reported on March 17th that “People with blood type A may be more vulnerable to infection by the new Coronavirus, while those with type O seem more resistant.”
- Pets including cats and dogs are NOT spreading the Coronavirus. There is no current evidence that pets including dogs and cats can transmit the coronavirus to people and there are no current reports of people being infect by pets worldwide. The WHO for Animal Healthy states that “The current spread of COVID-19 is a result of human to human transmission. To date, there is no evidence that companion animals can spread the disease. Therefore, there is no justification in taking measures against companion animals which may compromise their welfare.”
- Anti-malaria drugs do NOT cure coronavirus COVID-19. The World Healthy Organisation (WHO) says that there is no current evidence to recommend any specific anti-COVID-19 treatment for patients with confirmed COVID-19. The US CDC also states that there are no current antiviral drugs licensed by the US FDA to treat patients with COVID-19. There are no currently available data from randomized clinical trials to inform clinical guidance on the dosing, duration or use of hydroxychloroquine for prophylaxis or treatment of COVID-19.
- Ibuprofen does not worsen COVID-19. There is no current scientific evidence linking ibuprofen to making COVID-19 worse. The FDA, WHO and other healthy authorities have also issued statements acknowledging no scientific evidence on this conclusion.
- The heat from the coming summer will not stop COVID-19. The WHO states that the COVID-19 virus can be transmitted in all areas, including areas with humid and hot weather. As of March 28th 2020, COVID-19 is in 199 countries and territories including one with warm weather and it’s continuing to increase worldwide.
- The Coronvirus is much deadlier than the flu. The flu has a low mortality of 0.1% while the Cornavirus has a fatality rate of 1% to 4%. This makes the COVID-19 at least 10X more deadlier than the flu.
- A vaccine will not be ready in the next few months. The best case timeline for an effective vaccine to be available to the public won’t be until at least 2021.
- Children are not immune to the Coronavirus and can pass it on to others. However, the risks for children with COVID-19 are very low and they are mildly affected compared to adults and seniors. According to a large study in China, only 2% of confirmed coronavirus cases were in children and young people under the age of 19 years old. Only one death has been reported in this age group in this study which equates to 0.1% affected. WHO stated that “Disease in children appears to be relatively rare and mild”.
- Social Distancing Helps Prevent The Spread Of The Coronavirus (COVID-19). Social distancing is deliberately increasing the physical space between people to avoid contracting and spreading COVID-19. Staying a minimum of 6 feet away from other people lowers the chances of contracting and spreading the coronavirus and has been advocated by many governments, scientists, academics and health organisations.
